Private Morocco tours from Marrakech, Fes, Casablanca and Tangier
Where you land in Morocco shapes the best route. We run private tours from all four main gateways, so your trip can start on the day you arrive:
- Marrakech: the classic start for Sahara desert trips over the High Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka pass, Aït Benhaddou (UNESCO), the Dadès and Todra Gorges and Merzouga. See our private tours from Marrakech.
- Fes: the gateway to the imperial north and the shortest road to the Erg Chebbi dunes via Ifrane and Midelt. See the private tours from Fes.
- Casablanca: ideal for long-haul arrivals, with itineraries of 5 to 16 days linking Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fes, the Sahara and Marrakech. See the private tours from Casablanca.
- Tangier: perfect if you arrive by ferry from Spain, with Chefchaouen day trips and routes of up to 15 days. See the private tours from Tangier.
How long should a Morocco tour be?
Morocco is bigger than many visitors expect, and the Sahara is a long drive from every city. As a rough guide:
| Time available | What fits | Typical route |
|---|
| 2 to 3 days | A desert trip | Marrakech to Zagora (2 days) or Merzouga (3 days); Fes to Merzouga (2 days) |
| 4 to 5 days | Desert plus a one-way transfer | Marrakech to Fes via the Sahara, or the reverse |
| 6 to 8 days | Highlights loop | Fes or Casablanca, Chefchaouen, Volubilis, the Sahara, Marrakech |
| 9 to 12 days | Relaxed grand tour | Imperial cities, Sahara, gorges, Atlas and often the coast |
| 14 to 16 days | The complete country | Extra nights in Fes, the desert, Skoura oasis and Essaouira |
For route ideas and sample plans, see our Morocco itinerary guide, which compares 10 and 14 day routes.
What is included in our private Morocco tour packages?
Every private tour is built around your own vehicle and a local driver-guide who stays with you from pick-up to drop-off, with accommodation along the way as described on each tour page. You choose between two categories:
- Comfort: characterful, well-kept riads, kasbah hotels and a desert camp with private tents, each with its own bathroom and toilet.
- Luxury: upgraded hotels in places such as the Dadès Valley and an upgraded desert camp. In Merzouga itself there is no luxury hotel category, only comfortable, clean and well-serviced hotels.
International flights are not included: packages cover transport and accommodation during your stay in Morocco. Lunches, entrance fees and optional activities such as quad biking depend on the tour, so check the details on each page or ask us.
Guides and languages
Our driver-guides work in English, French, Spanish and Italian, and some speak a little German. A Spanish- or Italian-speaking driver-guide depends on availability for your dates and is confirmed before booking. Travellers who speak other languages tour in English.
Morocco desert tours: the Sahara experience
For most travellers the highlight is a night in the Erg Chebbi dunes near Merzouga. You ride camels into the dunes for sunset, eat dinner in camp, listen to drumming around the fire and wake early for sunrise over the sand. Camel rides depend on camel availability that day; if none are free, you reach the camp by 4x4 with a sunset stop on the dunes and ride camels the next morning instead.
We use our comfort camp with private tents and a partner camp with air-conditioned tents. We do not organise wild bivouacs, because Erg Chebbi has many camps and isolation cannot be guaranteed. Travellers wanting more desert time can spend one night at a camp with a nomad village and one at a comfort camp. Prefer to share the journey? Our shared 3 day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes follows the classic route with other travellers.
Tours for groups, families and students
Private tours suit couples and families, but we also organise private group tours for friends, clubs and associations, and educational tour packages for schools and universities. Itineraries for groups are planned around the number of travellers, the vehicles needed and the pace that suits everyone, from children to grandparents.
Whatever the group, the process is the same: tell us your travel dates, the number of people, where you want to start and finish, and what matters most to you, whether that is the desert, the medinas, the mountains or the coast.
How to plan and book your Morocco tour
- Send your request: use the enquiry form or WhatsApp us at +212 617 394 537 with your dates, group size and arrival city.
- Receive a proposal: we suggest a route, accommodation category and price for your private tour.
- Fine-tune it: add nights, change the pace, swap a city or add activities such as a hot air balloon flight or a cooking class.
- Confirm and travel: your driver-guide meets you at your hotel, riad, airport or port on day one.
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the busiest seasons, so send your dates early if you plan to travel then.
